The Reformed Great Church of Debrecen is the most characteristic building in Debrecen, with a floor area of 1,500 m². It is the largest Reformed church in the country. It was here that Lajos Kossuth read out the Declaration of Independence on April 14, 1849. The main structure was rebuilt several times.
